The following activities and events were organised during this academic year 2015-16
apart from the routine teaching/academic tasks:
1. JOINT STUDIO PROGRAMME WITH SPA, NEW DELHI FOR THE STUDENTS OF 3rd YEAR B. ARCH.
A joint programme of Goa College of Architecture & School of Planning and Architecture was conducted in month of September 2016.
The design was one week time problem relating to Urban Intervention in 3 important streets of Panaji.
1. Rua de Ourem Waterfront, Panaji.
2. Church Square to Panaji Jetty.
3. Boca de Vaca Spring to Panaji Jetty.
The SPA was represented by their year co-ordinator Mr. Rajaprakash, Ar. Anand Dhote & othersalong with thstudents of 3rd year B. Arch and Goa College of Architecture was represented by year Co-ordinator, Shri. Sanjay Belurkar, Ar.Manguesh Prabhugaonkar, Ar. Vandana Balakrishnan, Ar. Rahul Sardesai, along with the students of 3rd year B.Arch.
2. JOINT STUDIO PROGRAMME WITH CEPT, AHEMEDABAD FOR THE
STUDENTS OF 1st YEAR B. ARCH
A joint studio programme was conceived linking it to the Goa Documentation Programme 2016-17 of Goa College of Architecture, wherein the students of architecture were to measure draw the buildings from Goa's history. This was the second year of this collaborative exercise wherein the first year students from Goa College of Architecture and School of Architecture, CEPT made the study of individual buildings of a specific settlement or community in Goa. This year the focus was on island settlementsof Vanxim and Divar Islands.
In the preceeding week the reconaissance survey was carried out of sites and buildings to be documented as well as logistics to be taken care of. Ms. Karen Fernandes, an interior designer who is a resident of Divar, helped in organisation and the transportation was organised to ferry students to 4 different locations on the island. The sarpanch of Divar Prasad Harmalkar welcomed the group to document the Panchayat building, an old house adapted for administrative use. The Students of both the institutions jointly measured in buildings in groups & did the drawings separately, so that each institute shall have an original set of drawings.
3. STUDENTS’ EXCHANGE PROGRAMME WITH PADOVA UNIVERSITY, ITALY
As a consequence of the MoU signed between the Padova University and Goa University in February 2015, the process of students selection, registration and arrangement of Scholarships through the EU funding agency Erasmus+ was completed with in an year’s time.
Two of our students namely Ms. Sudhiksha Naik and Mr. Vishal Shullai
from Year IV attended one Semester at Padova University completing a
Design Studio (of 12 Credits) and also gained some professional experience.
